Teaching Dave to Talk

Teaching Dave to Talk

So many clients come to me sad, hurt, depressed, angry because of how someone has behaved towards them. Whilst there are many layers to this hurt, one of the most common ones is that the person has ‘let you down’ by not responding in a way you think they should.

Unfortunately, we all think differently and sometimes people do not only refrain from acting in the way you would wish, but also are incapable of doing it. So you can spend all your time and energy in hoping to change someone but it is impossible to do so.

Losing Friends

Losing Friends

It seems one of the biggest challenges can be that we often lose people along the way on this journey and it is hurtful and hard to understand.

Surely we begin following a spiritual path and we become better people, don’t we? Nicer people to be around? Kinder? More compassionate and understanding? More enlightened? More tolerant?

A Skeptic’s view of Reiki

A Skeptic’s view of Reiki

DemonstrateAs a holistic practitioner with strong beliefs on my own spirituality, I am fully aware that the services I offer may seem totally off the wall to some people. I have always believed that everyone is entitled to their opinion and that the greatest way to help anyone is to “demonstrate don’t broadcast”. By that, I mean that I live my life according to my beliefs and some people find that interesting and want to be involved and learn the tips and techniques I apply, whilst it may not be for others.

I learned long ago that the sure fire way to get people resistant to your beliefs, to reject them or even to mock them, is by trying to force them down their throats! Despite being excited by things that I learn, especially when I see them massively impact my way of life, it is always better to just quietly demonstrate that change rather than shout about it.

My ability to learn this from a young age may largely be down to my father. My father has always been very open to the possibilities of the universe however, my father cannot ever be told anything, as he will instantly resist and dig his heels in. When I began demonstrating I was on this life path, I could regularly sense my dad’s skepticism of the things I was learning. Despite his unwavering love and support, I knew there were choices that I was making that concerned him, that in his words, were ‘mumbo jumbo’.

January Deep Clean

January Deep Clean

Happy New Year all! I sincerely hope that this year is everything you deserve for it to be – because that is how it will work!

So when people hit January they often make resolutions to be fitter, healthier, stop smoking, drink smoothies and as we all know, these resolutions have usually failed by the end of the month (if we were really committed!). As I mentioned last year, I like to set intentions for the New Year instead of resolutions, much less disciplinarian!

One of my main intentions this year is to really step into my light, to own who I am and go out and grab it. Of course this is easier said than done and a lot of it will involve silencing that negative Nora we all have chattering away in our heads, as well as silencing some of the psychic vampires that hang out in our lives too.

Tune in

Tune in

From the day we are born we are told that we should listen to others, whether it’s doing what our parents tell us, teachers, police, doctors or people who are ‘older and wiser’, we are born believing that other people know what is better for us than we do. After all, they’re older, more experienced, more intelligent.

The thing is, we are all born with an inbuilt compass. An internal guide that is designed to steer us on the right path, keep us safe and help us make the best and healthiest choices for our life’s journey. We can all think of times where we have had a strong ‘gut instinct’ that we should or shouldn’t do something, we may not be able to reason why we have such a strong feeling but the times we have, and haven’t, followed this feeling are likely to be pretty defining.

However, as we grow older and believe we should seek the advice and opinions of others in everything we do, we tend to drown out that inner guide, that small voice that tries to steer us. Living a life where you are constantly seeking the advice and opinion of others often results in a great deal of unhappiness as you are making choices for you based upon other people’s life experiences. Nobody knows what is the best path for you like you do.

If you find that you are on a path where you have drowned out your inner voice, there are ways you can tune back in and reconnect to it, these are three of my favourite ways.

Wishing Peace

Wishing Peace

Have you ever been hurt or betrayed by someone you cared about? Has someone ever let you down or disappointed you? Of course you have! Part of learning some really valuable lessons in this life involve us learning how to interact with others, how to build relationships and who to build them with. Inevitably, this means we sometimes make choices which do not end well.

Despite this happening to each and every one of us at some point in our lives, some people carry so much pain, hurt or anger for those who have done them wrong that an event that may have happened long ago in their past, is still greatly impacting their present.

Showing Gratitude

Showing Gratitude

Life often gives us moments where we feel low, depressed or like everything is just going wrong. During these times, every now and then, we may not like to admit it but we enjoy a good wallow! A period of time where we allow ourselves to feel down. However, it is neither healthy nor fun for us to stay in this place and it is important we acknowledge this and learn how to lift our mood.

One of the worst things at a time like this is a well meaning friend who tells you to ‘cheer up’ or ‘there are lots of people worse off than you’. Of course, we know they are trying to help but often its more irritating than uplifting and only deepens our mood.

Moon Child

Moon Child

Ever since I was small, I have had an obsession with the moon. When I was about four, I was very poorly and my grandmother was holding me and, as a loving grandparent who wants to see her grandchild well again, she looked at me and asked ‘What can I get for you? Tell me what you want and I will get it for you, anything at all?’ my response without hesitation? ‘The Moon please nan’.

40 Ways to Change Your Energy

40 Ways to Change Your Energy

As a New Year approaches, thoughts may be around all the things you want to achieve and accomplish in the coming twelve months. From working with clients who are suffering from low or negative energy, I know that in order to really achieve and be happy, you need to protect and maintain your energy. Of course, this can be done with a wonderful Reiki or EFT treatment, but there are so many ways you can change your energy yourself. Here are forty quick and easy ways to make you feel happier, more positive and of course, more energetic. Try one or all of them and let me know if you have your own ideas or techniques too!

1. Smile – Even if you feel there is nothing at all to smile about, raise a smile. It tricks our body and before you know it, you start to feel a little better.

2. Breathe – So many people don’t breathe correctly, especially during times of stress, so look at your breathing and slowly draw in deliberate breaths. Take a look at this blog for more details.

Protecting Your Energy

Protecting Your Energy

Do you find sometimes that you are pretty happy and energetic until suddenly your energy, enthusiasm and positive outlook disappears out of nowhere?

Humans are electromagnetic beings, so no matter what your belief, it is universally accepted that as energetic beings we must interact with other energetic beings on some level whilst only in their presence.

There are some people who you can be around who simply make you feel good for no reason, people in your life who can say a word, give a smile or send a message which instantly boosts your mood. However, there are also people who can drain us of our energy in the blink of an eye, people who can make you feel negative, lack luster or downright miserable just by being around them.

Usually unintentionally, these people act like psychic vampires, seeking out people with higher energy levels and feeding off their energy to keep them going, unfortunately when this happens, it depletes your energy in no time at all.
